Why Wildfire Nutrition?

Wildfire Nutrition was born out of two simple ideas:

1. It just takes a tiny spark to start a fire. Start with one new habit, one new vegetable, one less drink, one more hour of sleep. Just start.

2. There’s a reason they say “spread like wildfire.” When you make that first little change, it leads to the next and the next until your whole life is different. Trust the process and live the life you’ve always dreamed of.
But the reality is that change isn’t easy. You can probably find the answers on the internet. You might already know what to do. But knowing and doing are two very different things. That’s where you need a coach. To help encourage and support you as well as hold you accountable for what you said you were going to do.

There is no more try, only do. But let’s do it together!

Hi, I'm Gretchen!

Owner of Wildfire Nutrition & your nutrition coach and cheerleader

I like to eat.

 

I've been on my own health and fitness journey for more than two decades, and now I help others with their health and nutrition. I'm the weirdo that asks for nutrition books for Christmas, listens to endless podcasts on health and fitness, and is constantly testing out different theories for optimizing health.

​

But the truth is, I also love donuts. And I want to enjoy ice cream with my kids and wine with my friends. 

​

Health isn't jumping on the next fad diet bandwagon or crash dieting or doing another cleanse. If it was that easy, you wouldn't be here. 

​

The hard work comes in the long haul. In keeping promises to yourself. In making sure your mental health is good too. In letting go of previous versions of yourself and going all in for your future self.

​

When we first met- it seems like ages ago, right before senior prom!- my husband, Adam, and I could eat whatever we wanted without any real ramifications to our weight or how we felt. But as we got closer to our 30s, this changed. Adam was working a sedentary desk job, and I had two babies. 

​

Adam started doing CrossFit and was significantly undereating- substituting 2 meals a day with “meal replacement shakes.” He had no energy, and after struggling to even complete very scaled, highly modified workouts, he started to shift his mindset for weight loss from restrictive dieting to a more food-is-fuel perspective. This shift was transformational for us at the time–  that you have to eat more to properly fuel your body for a particular activity so that you can perform well and ultimately lose weight. 

​

Eventually, I also started doing CrossFit, too, and as someone doing weightlifting for the first time in my life, I quickly realized that I needed to fuel my body well, too! We both started flexible eating and counting macros – which was so eye-opening for us! We learned so much about the food we were eating, were better able to fuel our bodies for performance at the gym, and felt better in our 30s than we did in our 20s. 

​

Today, we are passionate about helping others educate themselves about the food they consume so that they can feel and look their best, too! It brings us such JOY to walk alongside clients with big nutrition goals, breaking down the big goal into smaller goals along the journey and celebrating those small victories with clients.

 

It is so rewarding to see our clients realize their goals, and we can't wait to help you, too!

They give me numbers for each macro category and I just stay as close to those numbers each day as I can.  It really helped me with consistency. I’m so motivated and excited that they started WFN and my future looks very different now!
